Stitch Fix November 2016 Review #12
I scheduled my 12th Stitch Fix on a day when I was feeling kind of stressed and needed a pick me up. I wasn’t necessarily looking for anything in particular, but was just hoping to be delighted. As always Stitch Fix came through. Here are the contents of my 12th Stitch Fix!
BRIXON IVY Lawley Cable Knit Open Cardigan, SIZE($68)
This cable knit cardigan is just the kind of thing I need this time of year. It’s soft, comfortable and extremely versatile. It easily pairs with pants and a simple blouse for a polished ensemble, yet looks equally as good with a t-shirt and sweats for lazy weekend days. Now that my schedule is a lot more chaotic and unpredictable with a little one around, I’ve really come to appreciate and embrace the comfort of leisure pieces. This is one of those items that I know I’ll constantly find myself reaching for whenever I run out the door.
BC Footwear Sidekick Mixed Material Oxfords ($90)
As much as I’d love to envision myself easily waltzing around in stilettos everyday, it’s not a practical option. Realistically, I wouldn’t last a week if I had to wear heel’s on a daily basis. Not to mention my pain threshold for blisters is very low. That being said, I asked my Stylist for comfortable, yet chic, flats that could serve as a versatile and neutral option for Fall. I was thrilled to receive this pair of oxfords! The strongest detail is the combination of suede and leather which makes them slightly more unique than your standard black shoe. I also love the combination of the brown sole to the black shoe. Unfortunately after briefly walking around the house, I quickly realized these shoes were too narrow for my feet. My impulse was still to keep them, but in the end I forced myself to be honest about the discomfort and sent them back.
41HAWTHORN Gideon Polka Dot Sweater, S ($68)
I typically favor stripes to polkadots, probably because polkadots tend to give an overly youthful vibe. However, I immediately fell in love with this top once I put it on. It fits the way I want all my sweaters to fit - hugs in the right places without being too tight or too baggy. I love the simplicity of a crew neck sweater and this particular one is lightweight and easily suits this time of year.
DEAR JOHN Kyleigh Straight Leg Jean, 2 ($78)
If you’ve been reading this blog for a while then you know I have a serious obsession with all things denim. These days I’m partial to a straight legged jean that hits just below the ankle, but sits high on the waist (current favs hereand here. It’s an undeniably slimming look that flatters just about every body type. Unfortunately skinny jeans have had their moment, and cropped pants that flare slightly are the trending style now. It’s a look that doesn’t appeal to me, so I wasn’t sure how I felt when my Stylist sent a pair in my latest fix. Wearing them felt awkward, more like a pair of pants I had recently grown too tall for rather than a fashion forward option. However, despite not liking the style, the denim itself was incredibly soft and the jean fit like a glove. Considering the nuances in jean sizing that exists across brands, it’s not an easy thing to predict denim sizes yet Stitch Fix manages to nail it every time.
As a mom to a rambunctious toddler, I like Stitch Fix for several reasons. First, it’s convenient. Don’t get me wrong, I love perusing the racks at the mall, but with a little one in tow that is sometimes impossible. Of course there is online shopping, but once in a while I like the idea of just having stylish items sent to my doorstep. Two, it’s an awesome company that values it’s customers. From the Stylists to the customer service reps, Stitch Fix has always provided an amazing experience.
So that’s all for my latest fix. If you aren’t familiar with Stitch Fix, it’s an online personal styling service and the easiest way to add charming new pieces to your wardrobe!
