House in Progress - Little details
When we first moved into our house, we focused on the big purchases: lawn mower, weed trimmer, curtains/blinds, washer/dryer, refrigerator, etc. Now, as we let our debit cards cool, we have shifted to updating the little details around the house; the items that are often overlooked but are what can transform a living space into a home. Here are a few of those items:
- Forest Found Hooks (anthropologie.com) - We hung these as towel hooks in our bathroom and they look awesome. The hooks were coated with clear nail polish to prevent any discoloration of our towels (a great and useful tip from Aaron’s mom).
- Decorative Wire baskets (gardenridge.com) - AtHome (formerly Garden Ridge) has a huge selection of inexpensive decorative baskets. This one was used for toilet paper storage.
- Floral hand towels (target.com) - It is amazing the way hand towels can add the perfect splash of color to liven up a bathroom.
- Toilet bowl brush
- Trash can (simplehuman.com). A trash can is a common kitchen eyesore, especially if you don’t have a space to keep it hidden. As soon as we swapped out our dingy old trash can for this chic stainless steel alternative, the space was completely transformed. The SweetHome has an excellent review.
- Marble utensil holder
